eFlow was proud to once again support Ireland’s young innovators at this year’s Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, continuing a long-standing partnership with a programme that champions creativity, problem-solving and real-world impact among secondary school students.

This year, the eFlow Sustainable Transport Award was presented to Arjun Gambhir of Marian College, Dublin, whose project explored how advanced mathematics and artificial intelligence could be used to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at busy urban intersections.

Arjun’s project, “Mean-Field Game Theory for Adaptive Traffic Signal Control: A Hybrid AI–Mathematical Framework for Equilibrium-Based Optimisation at Urban Intersections”, examined how traffic lights could be made more responsive by modelling driver behaviour collectively rather than individually. By combining mathematical game theory with AI-based learning, the system aimed to optimise signal timings in a way that reduces waiting times, shortens queues and creates a more balanced flow of traffic across junctions.

Róisín Barton-Murray, Public Information and Enforcement Manager at Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) who presented the eFlow Sustainable Transport Award to the winner on behalf of eFlow stated, “TII through eFlow is delighted to support the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition for a fourth year running. This event gives us an opportunity to encourage curiosity and creativity among the next generation, while highlighting the importance of education and sustainability in shaping the future. By engaging with young innovators, we are helping to build awareness of how technology can contribute to a more sustainable world."

Darren McGivney, Marketing Lead at Turas Mobility Services, expressed great pride in sponsoring STEM initiatives, stated, “At eFlow, we are delighted to sponsor initiatives like Stripe Young Scientist, which play such an important role in encouraging young people to engage with science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The programme consistently showcases the creativity and problem-solving ability of students from across the country.

The Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition once again showcased the exceptional standard of student-led research taking place in schools around the country. eFlow is proud to continue its involvement in a programme that encourages young innovators to think critically about the world around them and develop solutions with real societal impact.
